The Colour of Light

This CMYK Lamp, created by Dennis Parren in 2011, is no ordinary lamp. Made up of a main white light source, with three coloured LEDs, it casts shadows in cyan, magenta and yellow. Playing with light and colour, the CMYK lamp brings a whole new spectrum of colours to a room that an ordinary lamp never could.

Fox Underfoot

These gorgeous felt animal rugs from Sew Heart Felt are made by shaping organic Tibetan wool with soap, water and hand pressure. They are then left to slowly dry under the Nepalese sun before friendly faces are skillfully needle felted to finish the cosy rugs. Designed in England and beautifully hand made in Kathmandu, the Sew Heart Felt collection provides sustainable, traditional work for women in rural Nepal.

The Fox, Badger and Boar rugs come beautifully packaged in a smart organic cotton Sew Heart Felt draw string bag.

Bunking Down

I don't think I've ever met a child who didn't get excited at the idea of getting bunks. Whether it’s because they can climb up high and touch the roof, or snuggle in the cubby-like bottom bunk, they have a novelty that regular beds just don't have. We have put together a little spread on some of our favoutite bunks that are on the market at the moment. Click through to see more details...

1. PERCH BUNK BED - OEUF NYC
Definitely one of our favourites, the Perch Bunk Bed from Oeuf NYC is the perfect centrepiece for any child's room. Oeuf are known for creating modern, elegant nursery furnishings that enhance any room, and they have certainly done that with the Perch. This versatile bunk bed is made up of two separate singles so that they can be easily moved into different layouts. Apart from the traditional bunk layout, the lower bunk can be moved to create an 'L' shape, or removed completely creating a loft bed and a standalone twin. Available at Kido Store Australia from September.

2. MAJA BUNK BED - AALTO + AALTO
Creating objects that have an aesthetic and emotional value, Aalto + Aalto aim to create everyday objects that have a strong identity and story. These beautiful Maja bunk bed's were inspired by tree houses, creating a little bit of magic in a child's room. The sad news is that at this point they are just a prototype... fingers crossed they are headed for production soon!

3. COCO BUNK - ASPACE
The Coco Bunk from Aspace is a full sized adult bunk bed with great functional storage drawers in the base. Modern in design, the end panels have large cut out windows, letting extra light into the lower bunk space. With the contrast panelling and the pleasing yet functional raised upper bunk edge, you might just end up staying the night in their room.

4. SCOOP BUNK BED - LILLY & LOLLY
The Scoop Bunk Bed from Lilly & Lolly is made up of curved, child friendly shapes. With large and small cut outs perfect for climbing in, crawling over and peeking through, this bed is almost a cubby house!

5. UFFIZI BUNK BED - ARGINGTON
Offering a straight forward solution to your child's room, the Uffizi Bunk Bed provides a resting place that your children will love to call their own. Designed by artisan duo Jenny Argie and Andrew Thorton, the Uffizi creates interesting spaces with a semi-enclosed lower bunk, and window like openings. The Uffizi Bunk can also be arranged in different variations making it workable for nearly all spaces.

6. PLUUNK BUNK BED - INQUISITIVE KID
The Pluunk Bunk Bed has been designed with all four sides in mind, meaning that it can be placed in various configurations depending on the space. Designed by an internationally acclaimed Toronto architecture firm, this contemporary bunk bed is as much a creative space as usable one.The 'large windows' can provide a stage for puppet shows or the addition of a blanket through the rings of the ladder create a fort.
